Visiting St Ives, The Barbara Hepworth Museum

Life is pretty tense round here at the mo. My Dad had cancer 2 years ago and it returned this year. Treatment for cancer is so harsh and he is struggling.

Mum gets the brunt of it, so I regularly have to take her out to diffuse. Yesterday I took her to the other end of Cornwall, to visit the Barbara Hepworth museum & garden in St Ives.

Have you ever been? What a heavenly place! Although it was raining, it perked us both up no end :)

I know just how bad cancer is I feel for you. I lost both parents to it years ago and 3 years ago I lost my brother to it and now just this month I have found out my younger sister has got lung cancer and unfortunately there’s nothing they can do for her so she hasn’t got long, that’s all my family.
It is deverstateing and you definately need an escape.
My escape is usually my allotments but somehow I can’t concentrate on that, I don’t know if its the weather or just heartbreak but I don’t seem to be able to get stuck in as I would normaly do.
The slugs are devouring everything in their way even the asparagus has been striped of its outer bark by the slugs. I am constantly walking around with a pot in my hand to collect these critters to feed them to the chickens who are the only ones enjoying them.
I hope ur dad gets well soon and you and your family find the strength together to help each other through a bad time in life.

Having had cancer in my own family I know the feeling. Your Mother will appreciate those days out with you.

  4. That’s very sad your Dad’s cancer has returned. That is wonderful of you to take your mum out! Life and family are precious, you are an inspiration to me! really. I didn’t see an email button so I figured I’d leave a comment here for you to also let you know that. – and I’ve nominated you a couple of blow awards! http://www.homesteadsimple.com/blog-awards/

Thank you Erika, it’s times like this that make you focus on all that is important in life, and ditch the rest!

I absolutely love “St Ives”, and I will return one day ~ and visit this museum. I had a love affair with St. Ives.
Parallel lives ~ my best friend ~ my father battled with cancer, and it went away and like a stranger it returned.
He left too soon ~ for me that is…and for many others.
Blessings of love ~ strength ~ fortitude and soft kind times together for you both and the times you share and all ways have together.

Hi Jana, thanks for your kind words. St Ives has that pull on sooooo many people, actually Cornwall does too! Great to meet you, Janie x
